Back in 2014 Google announced that they would no longer be charging educational institutions a fee for using their line of Google Apps including Google Drive through Google for Education.
If you are in college, or have alumni status, you might have unlimited cloud storage via Google Drive. So here is my holiday gift to you: unlimited Google Drive storage for free. If you do not see the notification, you can follow the steps below to manually activate the service.įirst, from within the Admin Control Panel, click on ‘Organizations & Users’ tab and then click on ‘Services’ next to the ‘Users’ tab.By now, you should already know the importance of backing up your data, and while storage (even cloud storage) isn't all that expensive these days it's still an expense. You can click directly on that link to enable the service. Log in to your Admin Control Panel … you may see a promotional Google Drive storage notice on the Dashboard. If your account is not managed by a Reseller like Dito, you can enable the service yourself but will be required to enter specific billing information at the end of the steps below. After the service has been enabled, you will then be able to manage the Google Drive storage licenses from within the Admin Control Panel (we will discuss this later in the blog post). If your Google Apps for Business licenses are managed through a Reseller, you will need to contact your service provider (like Dito) and ask them to enable the Google Drive storage feature. There are two ways to activate additional Google Drive storage for your domain. If you have users like this in your organization, don’t worry, additional storage is available and can now be managed via the Admin Control Panel! Let’s take a look at how to activate and assign the storage space below.Īctivating Additional Google Drive Storage With this ability, users may want to store a collection of files greater than the allotted 5GB of data storage. Google Drive has enhanced the power of Google Apps by allowing users to store files from their computer in the cloud by simply dragging & dropping files in to the designated Google Drive folder.
